Description :   The vibrant city of Chattogram witnessed a dynamic convergence of youth, passion, and environmental advocacy at the “Youth Carnival on Climate Resilience” held on December 15, 2023. Organized by the Adolescents and Youth Forum in association with UTSA and supported by Diakonia, the event marked a significant step forward in empowering the youth to take the lead in addressing pressing climate challenges. The carnival, hosted at the esteemed Zela Shilpakala Academy Chattogram, unfolded as a day-long celebration of creativity, innovation, and collective commitment to building a sustainable future. Key Highlights: Art Competition: The event kicked off with an Art Competition that transformed the venue into a canvas of environmental consciousness. Young artists passionately expressed their visions for a greener world through compelling artwork. Debates and Discussions: Engaging in debates and discussions provided a platform for participants to delve into critical environmental issues. The depth of knowledge and enthusiasm displayed underscored the youth’s commitment to driving positive change. Idea Presentation: Innovative solutions took centre stage as participants presented groundbreaking ideas aimed at tackling environmental challenges. The youth demonstrated a keen sense of responsibility and a drive to contribute to a sustainable future. Rally for Change: A spirited rally, led by the youth, echoed through the streets, symbolizing a united stand for environmental conservation. The enthusiasm displayed during the march showcased a collective determination to create a cleaner, greener world. Cultural Connection: The Cultural Presentation added a vibrant touch to the carnival, celebrating our profound connection with nature. Dance, music, and performances echoed the rhythms of our commitment to environmental stewardship. Prize Giving: The day concluded with a celebratory Prize Giving ceremony, recognizing and applauding the outstanding efforts of individuals and groups dedicated to keeping the environment, reducing plastic usage, promoting recycling, and overall, safeguarding the Earth. Distinguished personalities Mr. Abul Bashar, Coordinator of A K Khan Foundation, Ms. Sayedur Ness, Executive Member of UTSA, and Mr. Mostafa Kamal Jatra, Executive Director of UTSA, lent their expertise and support to the impactful “Youth Carnival on Climate Resilience” Mr. Abul Bashar expressed “The Youth Carnival on Climate Resilience is a testament to the potential of our youth. Initiatives like these pave the way for a sustainable future, and it is heartening to witness the passion and commitment displayed by the participants.” Ms. Sayedur Ness says “Education plays a pivotal role in shaping the mindset of the youth. The discussions held during the event reflect the depth of understanding and the eagerness of the youth to contribute meaningfully to environmental conservation.” Mr. Mostafa Kamal Jatra says “UTSA is proud to be a part of this initiative that empowers the youth to take the lead in addressing climate challenges. The event showcased the creativity and determination of the younger generation to create a positive impact on the environment.” The Adolescents and Youth Forum, in collaboration with UTSA and supported by Diakonia, strives to create platforms that empower youth to actively participate in addressing societal and environmental challenges.
