Title :   Programme for Adolescents.

Description :   Since 1 July 2019, a youth-focused social development initiative has been implemented with support from Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). The project operates in Anowara and Banshkhali upazilas of Chattogram district, as well as Maheshkhali and Kutubdia upazilas of Cox’s Bazar district, with the objective of creating awareness among adolescents and young people to prevent involvement in all forms of crime and harmful social practices. The initiative adopts a comprehensive and integrated approach to community development, recognizing that poverty, lack of education, poor health, and limited opportunities often contribute to social vulnerabilities among young people. By addressing education, health, nutrition, sanitation, income generation, and youth development simultaneously, the project seeks to empower adolescents and their families while fostering safer and more resilient communities. A cornerstone of the program has been the establishment of 792 adolescent clubs—396 for girls and 396 for boys—across the project areas. These clubs provide safe and supportive spaces where adolescents can develop leadership skills, build confidence, and engage in discussions on social issues affecting their lives. Through regular meetings, awareness sessions, and peer-learning activities, young people are encouraged to become active contributors to positive change within their communities. Over the course of implementation, the project has reached tens of thousands of adolescents through a wide range of interventions. Health awareness sessions, soft skills training, social awareness campaigns, sports competitions, marathons, youth fairs, anti-tobacco movements, and cultural events have created opportunities for learning, engagement, and personal growth. The initiative has also promoted improved nutrition and well-being through the establishment of Nutrition Corners, while street dramas and community campaigns have raised awareness about critical issues such as child marriage, dowry, and gender-based discrimination. In addition to awareness and advocacy activities, the project has invested in developing the leadership potential of adolescents through life skills education, community service opportunities, and recognition of outstanding contributions to social development. The distribution of hygiene materials and COVID-19 safety supplies further supported the health and well-being of participants during challenging times. By empowering adolescents with knowledge, skills, and opportunities for meaningful participation, the project is helping to nurture a generation of informed, responsible, and socially conscious young leaders. Through their active engagement in community development and crime prevention efforts, these young people are contributing to long-term social transformation and building safer, healthier, and more inclusive communities.
